Position Summary
Black River Contracting is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer for underground utility installation including water, sewer, and storm systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer pipe
- Set grade using laser and grade stakes
- Prepare trenches, bedding, and backfill to spec
- Install manholes, catch basins, hydrants, and fittings
- Ensure proper alignment, slope, and joint connections
- Work closely with excavator operators and foremen
- Follow safety protocols for trenching and confined spaces
Qualifications
- 2+ years underground utility experience
- Knowledge of pipe types (PVC, HDPE, RCP, ductile iron)
- Ability to read plans and understand utility profiles
- OSHA trench safety awareness
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Work Environment
- Physically demanding outdoor work
- Must be comfortable working in trenches
- Seasonal weather exposure
